Veva J. Schreiber, nee Hopkins, age 91, of Lake Forest, and formerly of Lake Bluff, Glenview and Colo, IA, died February 22, 2017. Wife of the late G. Richard Schreiber; mother of the late Susan (the late Arlan) Shorey, George (JoAnn) Schreiber, Ellen (the late Norman) Hodge; grandmother of Veva and Daniel Shorey, Victoria, Elizabeth and Amelia Schreiber, Christopher and Michael Hodge, and Catherine Martin; great grandmother of eight; sister of Michael Hopkins and the late Martha Kash; also remembered by many nieces and nephews, and loving friends. Graduate of the University of Chicago where she met her husband. She served three terms as a Lake Bluff Village Trustee. She was active in the Lake Bluff Garden Club, the Garden Clubs of Illinois and the National Garden Club. She served in various capacities including president, central region director, and editor of Garden Glories. Veva was a nationally accredited flower show judge. She enjoyed floral design and writing about all things gardening. She was also a member of the Lake Bluff Women’s Club.
