Obituary for Charmayne Kreuz

Charmayne Wilke Kreuz, 86, Lake Forest, died March 4. She was born in Harvard, IL March 12, 1930, to Frederick and Margaret Wilke. She graduated from Mooseheart High School in Mooseheart, IL in 1948 and continued her education at Grinnell College, Iowa graduating with a BA in English/Journalism in 1952. Upon graduation she began her life long work in the public relations field beginning with Daniel J. Edelman Company in Chicago. Later while in Menlo Park, CA she wrote and published the history of Menlo Park for their Centennial celebration. Returning to the Midwest she served as Director of Public Information for the City of Lake Forest and was instrumental in numerous city events including Depot Day Dedication, Christmas tree lighting ceremonies, the beachfront restoration project and Friends of the Library. She was active in the Lake Forest Caucus and League of Women Voters. Charmayne is survived by her step-children; Susan (Kevin) McCoyd, Maura (Jeff) Hurless, Debra (Werner) Seubert; eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Red (Gail) Wilke, sister Charlotte (Leo) Feltz; nieces Cindy (Dave) Newkirk, Beth (Tim) Scherr, nephew Chris (Melissa) Wilke, 7 great nieces and 1 great nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and step-son Mark Kreuz. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday March 11, 2017 at St James Lutheran Church, 1380 N Waukegan Road, Lake Forest. A service will follow at 11:00 am with burial at Lake Forest Cemetery.
