Lois Stevenson Ryan, 85, of Lake Bluff, Illinois died January 25th at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Lois was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her Master’s in Education from Northwestern University. Lois was a fifty plus year resident of Lake Bluff; where she raised her family and taught in the Public School System. She was an accomplished artist and a member of Artists on the Bluff. Lois was also a devoted member of The Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest where she sang in the choir and rang bells. She also co-founded The Missions Possible Book Store, proceeds of which support outreach programs. Lois is survived by her three children, Richard Davies Ryan, Jr., Steven Michael (Ann Meeker) Ryan, and Holly Ryan (Jeffery Michael) Howell. Grandmother of Richard Davies III (Courtney Chaplin), Charles Warner, and William Hadley Stewart Ryan, Amanda Norwood, John Meeker, and Alice Rhoads Ryan, and Ryan Thomas (Ashley Marie) and Tia Catherine Howell. Great Grandmother to Raelynn Paige and Braxton Michael Howell. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Richard Davies Ryan, Sr. A memorial service will take place at the Church of the Holy Spirit at a yet to be determined date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Missions Possible Bookstore at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, Illinois.
