James E. Riley, 86, of Lake Forest, passed away December 25, 2016. James was born January 16, 1930, in Elgin, IL, to William J. and Helen McCullough Riley. James is survived by his wife, Maureen, his daughters, Jeanette and Farrell(Joseph, deceased), his sons James and Charles(Laura), and his grandchildren, Erik, Karl, Austin, Adri, Caitlin Conor, and Caroline. James is survived by his brother, Robert, and his sister, Sister Maria Riley OP. James is survived by his stepchildren, the Durots—George (Ann), Jennifer, Michael (Anne), Robert (Kathryn), and Andrew. He is survived by his step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caroline, Elizabeth, Hilary, Georges, Molly, Duke, Matthew, Natalie, Peter, Nicholas, Oliver, and Madeline. James was preceded in death by his siblings, William, Philip, Fred, Mary Jane, and Tom. A Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the Church of St. Mary, 175 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' name to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, 1140 West Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607-2906 or Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd., Boys Town, NE 68010-9988.
