Mary Lee Brinegar (nee Rambeau) 91, Lake Forest, passed away peacefully October 12, 2016. Loving wife of Merle Brinegar, dear sister of Nancy (Richard) Hough, Sally (Peter) Spoehr, fond aunt of Thomas Spoehr, Barbara Schlaefer, William Hough, David Hough, and Janet Folley. Mary Lee was born and raised in the Chicago area by her parents William and Mary Rambeau. She graduated from New Trier High School, attended Drake University, graduated from Northwestern University, and received a master’s degree from San Francisco State College. After graduation she taught in San Francisco’s China Town, at the Air Force school in Tokyo, Japan, and later taught in a two room school in Kaycee, WY. She also spent time as a social worker in Chicago. For many years she enjoyed being a volunteer at the Lincoln Park Zoo. A memorial will be held on Tuesday October 18th at 2:00 pm at Lake Forest Place, 1100 Pembridge Drive, Lake Forest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N. Clark St, Chicago, IL 60615.
